Fortune Shumba was born and raised in South Africa, in a little township called Kabokweni in the Nelspruit region. He began professionally recording music in 2013 and sings and raps in his native language Swati and English. His influences include Bjork, Busi Mhlongo, Bholoja, The BLK JKS, Prince, Brenda Fassie, Boom Shaka, David Bowie and Grace Jones amongst others.
An independent artist in every sense, he is unapologetically vocal about his support for members of the LGBTQ community and remains an activist against any form of abuse towards women, children and queer people. This shows through his music and live sets which are often filled with colour and extremely creative out of the ordinary elements.
This fierce and bright muso easily bends all norms and is slowly becoming one to watch in the global music space while continuing to spread his message of love and acceptance throughout the world.
