Cristiano Ronaldo is reportedly set to leave Manchester United this summer unless they qualify for the Champions League.
The Portugal sensation responded angrily to being substituted at Brentford on Wednesday night, with the Red Devils 2-0 up on 72 minutes.
Ronaldo does not seem happy at United right now
Ralf Rangnick’s men went on to win 3-1 and the United boss downplayed the incident after the match, but reports suggest all is not well with Ronaldo at Old Trafford.
The 36-year-old returned to his old club on a two-year deal last summer and, despite a promising start, United are now clinging onto hopes of a top-four finish.
According to The Sun, Ronaldo’s camp have held conversations with incoming chief executive Richard Arnold about cutting the forward’s second United spell short.
It is understood Ronaldo wants to play until he is 40, but considers Champions League football an absolute minimum,
What will this mean for Ronaldo and Rangnick’s relationship?
The five-time Ballon d’Or winner expected United to challenge for football’s top honours upon his return and a recent interview suggested he is disappointed with the current mentality at Old Trafford.
“Manchester United should win the league or finish in second or third. I don’t see any other positions for Manchester United,” Ronaldo told Sky Sports.
“In my head I don’t accept that our mentality be that we finish below the top three in the Premier League.
“We are capable of changing things now… I know the way but I’m not going to mention here because I don’t think it’s etiquette on my part to say but what I can say is that we can do it better, all of us.

“We have to change that. I don’t want to be in a club where we fight to be in sixth, seventh or fifth place, I’m here to try to win, to compete.
“I think we compete but we are not yet in our best level. We have a long way to improve but I believe if we change our mind we can achieve big things.”
Rangnick’s men are currently seventh in the top-flight and need to make up ground on Arsenal, Tottenham and West Ham if they want to finish fourth
