Five 'available' players Liverpool could sign ahead of transfer deadline day

Transfer deadline day is approaching but there are a number of 'available' players that could be on the move before next Tuesday.
Five 'available' players Liverpool could sign ahead of transfer deadline day
With less than a week remaining in the transfer window, clubs across Europe are scrambling to complete any last minute business ahead of next Tuesday's deadline.

Here are five players who may be available for transfers, that could be alternatives to the names that have dominated the headlines this summer.

Houssem Aouar

Links to Aouar have resurfaced this summer and it's not the first time the player's name has been raised as a potential Liverpool target.

RMC Sport, via Get French Football News, reported last week that the midfielder was among the players Lyon were looking to sell this summer in a bid to resolve 'attitude problems' in the dressing room.

Aouar is a product of Lyon's academy and whilst he's commanded a significant fee in the past, the club have reportedly lowered their asking price to around £25m this summer.

For the stated fee, the stats prove he'd be an idea signing for Liverpool should they choose to make a move.

However, the player is in demand with Tottenham Hotspur reportedly the latest club to show an interest.

Rafinha

PSG signed Rafinha only one year ago and they may already be looking to move him on in order to free up finances after the Messi signing.

He made 35 appearances for the French club in all competitions last season and registered seven assists.

Also a midfielder, Rafinha could be the ideal replacement for Georginio Wijnaldum and interestingly, he is also the brother of current Liverpool star Thiago Alcantara.

The pair both came through the academy at Barcelona and whilst Thiago spent much of his career at Bayern Munich before making the switch to Merseyside last summer, Rafinha had a number of loan spells in Spain and Italy before eventually moving permanently to PSG.

Leeds United were linked with a move for the Brazilian last summer in a move that would've seen the brothers reunite in England, but PSG won the race to land his signature.

Ousmane Dembele

Dembele is another name that appears to resurface every summer but, as Barcelona signed the player for £135.5m in 2017, it was clear the Catalan club would demand a hefty fee to part ways with the winger.

Despite being just 24 years of age, the Frenchman has been of 'interest' to Liverpool ever since he broke onto the European scene at Rennes.

The club could take advantage of Barcelona's financial struggles and test their resolve on Dembele, who could be available for as little as £44m given he has entered the final year of his contract.

However, clubs interested may face a race against time as Dembele is close to extending his stay at Barcelona, if reports in Spain are to be believed.

Leandro Paredes

Liverpool have been linked with Paredes ever since his time at Roma, where the Reds were reportedly interested in making a swoop for the player in January 2017.

Rumours were swiftly shut down by the club and the now 27-year-old left Roma to join Russian side Zenit at the end of the 2016/17 season before earning a move to PSG in January 2019.

With no replacement for Wijnaldum to come through the doors at Anfield, the Reds could turn to Paredes in order to fill that void.

However, with forward Kylian Mbappe potentially departing for Real Madrid this week, PSG's need to shift other players in the squad could quickly diminish if they sell the 22-year-old.

Rayan Cherki

18-year-old Rayan Cherki is another player Lyon are reportedly looking to sell before Tuesday's deadline, according to RMC Sport.

Rumours this summer suggest Liverpool are looking to add to their attacking ranks, given Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane will depart for AFCON in January.

Whilst the disruption AFCON will cause should be minimal, their absence will cause a selection headache for Jurgen Klopp that he could solve with any potential incomings.

Cherki's versatility and ability to operate as an attacking midfielder or winger could make him an ideal solution.

In February last year, at just 16 years of age, Cherki was already being tipped to emulate Mbappe.

The youngster has so far made 44 first team appearances for Lyon and scored seven goals, with six assists.

It's yet to be seen if any clubs across Europe show firm interest in the player, but he's certainly one to keep an eye on with two years remaining on his current deal at Lyon.
