Liverpool fans were all saying the same thing after Manchester City's 1-0 defeat to Spurs.

Heung-min Son's second-half strike proved to be the difference as the Premier League champions' Tottenham Hotspur Stadium hoodoo dragged on with Nuno Espirito Santo's side earning three points in his first match as manager.

The performance of the City defender Benjamin Mendy had fans poking fun and drawing comparisons to Kostas Tsimikas after the Greece international made an impressive first league start in the 3-0 win over Norwich City.

After Andy Robertson 's ankle injury in the penultimate friendly of the season against Athletic Bilbao, Tsimikas was given the opportunity to start for the Reds.

He cost Liverpool around £11.75m, a fraction of the £50m price that Pep Guardiola paid for the Frenchman.

And the 27-year-old had the tough task of nullifying the threat of Lucas Moura and Son, struggling to stamp his mark on the game losing as many as 10 duels in the defeat and being replaced by Oleksander Zinchenko with 13 minutes remaining.

As a result, his showing led to Reds fans making comparisons and holding Liverpool's 'Greek Scouser' in higher esteem.

Diogo Jota, Roberto Firmino and Mohamed Salah pushed Jurgen Klopp 's side to three points in Norfolk as the Reds fired three past the Canaries.

"Kostas played very good,” said the German who was left delighted with the 25-year-old's performance.

"Then someone pulled the plug but that is normal, he played a really good game.”

Robertson will be sidelined until at least September after suffering ankle ligament damage, but Klopp did not rule out a return immediately after the international break.
