US comedian and entertainer Bill Cosby has been released from prison after his sexual assault conviction was overturned by Pennsylvania's highest court.
The release followed a stunning decision in the case of the man once known as 'America' s Dad' where courts found out the actor's due process rights were violated.
The court tossed Cosby's conviction as a result of an agreement he had with a prior prosecutor that would have prevented Cosby from being criminally charged in the case. The ruling also bars any retrial in the case.
The 83-year-old comedian had served three years of a three to 10 year sentence at a maximum- security prison.
Cosby returned home in Suburban Philadelphia on Wednesday afternoon looking frail and walking slowly, he was assisted by bis lawyer and spokesman flashing a V sign as soon as he reached his door.
The victims who sought closure in the case's resolution saw the ruling as a 'slap in the face'. They see as the work put in to uplift women has been overturned by a legal glitch.
