The multiple award-winning artiste, Damini Ebunoluwa, popularly known as Burna Boy, has bagged the Best International Act award.
Burna was up against his colleague from Nigeria, Wizkid, Aya Nakamura (France), Diamond Platnumz (Tanzania), Emicida (Brazil), Headie One (United Kingdom), Young T & Bugsey (United Kingdom), and Youssopha (France).
He went up on stage to receive the award accompanied by his mum who he thanked for always being their throughout his musical career.
He also took a moment during his speech to teach the black people in the event some igbo words (your de, we de) just to remind them of their origin.
Three months ago, Burna Boy was awarded a Grammy Award for ‘World Best Music Album’. That seemed like the pinnacle of his year’s success only for him to bag the ‘Best International Act’ at the just concluded BET Awards for the third time in a row.
The Award ceremony was held at the Microsoft Theater in Los Angeles yesterday and was hosted by the 6-time BET Best actress winner, Taraji P. Henson.
Megan Thee Stallion dominated the day after carting home four categories in Best Female Hip-Hop Artist; Video of the Year, Best Collaboration for ‘WAP’ through her duet with Cardi B; and a Viewer’s Choice Award for “Savage (Remix)” through her 2020 track with Beyoncé.
Congratulations to The African Giant for win! What’s your favorite song by Burna Boy?#burnaboy #BetAwards2021

4 – Nacer Chadli (#BEL ) became the fastest substitute to be subbed off in EURO history, leaving the pitch exactly 4 minutes after coming in. Unlucky. #BELITA #Euro2021
