The world Rally Championship made a return to Kenya after a 19-year hiatus and it was an exciting moment for the East African nation.
The Safari remained challenging with closed dirt roads, stunning picture-postcard scenery and exotic wildlife. Fans thronged the city and Rift Valley town of Naivasha to catch a glimpse of the speed racing.
French driver Sebastian Ogier won the WRC safari rally extending his lead at the top of WRC title race. He benefited from early retirement of overnight leader Thierry Nueville who broke his right rear shock absorber during the final day's first special stage.
Home Hero Onkar Rai moved one step closer to a dream win by extending his WRC3 lead. He finished at number 7 at the Kenyan rally, and now he is at 18 at the world standing with his Polo GTi.
Tejveer Rai had a nasty accident after his monster R5 rolled several times at Kedong stage. He was airlifted to Nairobi and he has since been flown out for further treatment.
The president of Kenya secured the hosting rights of the elite motorsport event from the international Automobile Federation FIA for the next 5 years. That makes Kenyans happy after being left off for 19 years.
