Not every child is fortunate enough to have an upbringing that is void of financial constraints. Jalas’s story is a testament to this very fact. On air, Jalang’o shared his moving life episode with Kamene Goro featuring a time when he was unable to continue with his education due to lack of school fees.
“Immediately after High School, we were like 50-100 young men who had completed school and they went to college and I was left. Most of the time, I would hide knowing that my dad was not able to take me to college. It got to a point where the pain was so much,” he lamented. He painfully narrates that a few friends of his and he decided to become fishermen. “We were laughed at because education was the only way out. You are here with people who have never gone to school and that even depressed us even more.”
“But here we are. People go through tough times,” he concluded. Many children out there are like Jalang’o and may never get the opportunity that he ended up getting to be the man he is today. It is only when one hears such stories that one truly appreciates what one has.
