Burna Boy, The African Giant, Is Red – What About You?

Manchester United officially launched their third kit yesterday and it came with a lot of mixed reactions. Whereas some are pleased with the bold move to have a black and white striped camouflage design, others are quite disappointed. The biggest criticism based on the kit is that it is very similar to a zebra’s print (ouch!) and that it was a terrible attempt at achieving uniqueness. Much of this is besides the point.
Manchester United launched the jersey along with a campaign advert, one that featured African stars Burna Boy and DJ Cuppy as ambassadors. Both artists donned the jersey within an hour of its launch and posed for pictures, sharing them on their social media handles and mentioning @ManUtd. The posts also carried the hash tag #READYFORTHENOISE which is the tag that the campaign is using.
The 2020/2021 English Premier League season is set to start this weekend with the first game of the new campaign featuring Arsenal going up against Fulham away from home. Manchester United, however, will not be in action until next week; their initial fixture against Burnley being postponed to allow them to fully recover from their European campaign that had them playing well after the other EPL clubs had gone on their summer break. Their first taste of action will be against Crystal Palace on the 19th.
