Does Any NBA Team Have As Many Celebrity Fans As The Los Angeles Lakers?!

Founded in 1947 as Detroit Gems and later moving to Minneapolis to become the Minneapolis Lakers, the team has gone through highs and lows to become what it is today. After a financial struggle, the franchise moved to Los Angeles just before the 60/61 season and thus, The Los Angeles Lakers were born! Since then, the Lakers have gone on to be multiple-time champions, winning the Championship 16 times, one less than the Boston Celtics. Some of the greatest ballers of all time have played for the Lakers, including Wilt Chamberlain, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar, Kobe Bryant and now LeBron James. It is no wonder then that the LaLa Land team has recorded an NBA high of 22 million fans.
The most notable fans of the Lakers range from fellow sportsmen to actors to general pop culture icons. The list is enormous! Some may even shock you for being basketball fans to begin with. But hey… what’s not to love about the yellow and purple? This list cannot be any more random than the following :
Lil Wayne
The legendary rapper has praised the Lakers and singled out Kobe Bryant as a great. He has likened himself to him as the Hip-hop version of the late multiple MVP winner.
Leonardo Di Caprio
Born in LA, the Titanic actor has literally grown up loving the Lakers.
Charlize Theron
(I cannot love this woman enough!) The Old Guard star is cementing her acting career as one of the most versatile female actors there is. She almost never misses a game.
Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber
I’m sorry I put these two together but they were so adorable as a couple, right? They even showed up for games together.
David Beckham
Iconic footballer Becks is also a Lakers supporter even though he was born in the UK, synonymous for football.
Christina Aguilera
The beautiful Christina also reps for the Lakers.
50 Cent
Yet another rapper roots for the LA Lakers in their games. He gets VIP seats too, of course.
Zac Efron
Millennials (girls especially) cannot get High School Musical songs out of their heads, and Zac Efron is a maaaajor reason. He’s a Laker as well.
Snoop Dogg
Like his good pal Nipsey, Snoop has LA Laker blood in his veins. He paid a massive tribute to Kobe on a song called “Mamba Style” in reference to Bryant’s mantra.
The long list also includes rapper Will.I.Am, singer Adam Levine, comedians Kevin Hart, Chris Rock and Eddie Murphy and Ice Cube.
What team do YOU rep?
