Nini Wacera’s 250K Con Story And Robert Burale’s Denial – Who Is Telling The Truth?

We’ve all had our fair share of conning experiences, many that leave us with lessons learnt hard. It doesn’t feel good, especially where great trust was involved. And Nini holds this one particular experience of hers as one that will never leave her mind. It was 13 years ago at a time when she was all about self-development. “I had saved up money and I was looking for my first car,” she told #Janjaruka. It was at this moment that she bumped into a guy at a club who told her that he was a car dealer after she expressed her plan. Lucky for her, she thought.
“I give him Ksh 250,000 to go to Mombasa – he’s shown me pictures of a car – to come and bring this car from Mombasa to Nairobi. Already at that point I should have known I was going to get conned,” she added. As it so happened, the guy, Robert, remained in constant communication with her all the while as he went to Mombasa, received the vehicle and took pictures of it. However, communication broke down at this exact point. It was years before she got wind of the guy’s new gig as an actor, where he allegedly proceeded to con other people before Nini swooped in to alert the producer. Later still, she finds an advert on the papers that features the same dude as a pastor and manages to get his contacts.
“I find his contact and I call him and I’m like, “Dude, you still have my sh. 250,000.”” Robert allegedly proceeded to express his intention to make amends, saying that he was now born again and wanted to meet up with Nini to reimburse her. Again, communication breaks down and he snakes away. The Police told her that the statute of limitations would not allow her to press fresh charges since so many years had passed since the incident.
When Burale was questioned about the whole saga by Jalang’o on his show, he had this to say, “I haven’t seen her for like 12/13 years. I would say some things to be honest but I cannot deny that I knew her.” He was keen to state, though, that the public made such rash conclusions about everything to the point that he couldn’t defend himself legitimately. In what also seemed as a sly dig at Nini, he said, “It would be foolish of me to try say some things and somebody is not here to defend themselves.” He concluded by offering his audience to Nini once more; “Not everything that was said about my past was true. But I’m here [Nini] not in any other country, so let’s talk. I know there’s a lot of exaggerations but I’m holding myself back.” #niniwacera #robertburale
