Jowie Irungu – From Grass To Grace… LITERALLY!

When you spend nearly 2 full years locked up in a cell, a lot of factors come into play that could strongly determine the kind of person that you become when you’re finally out. It’s never quite the same. I mean, I wouldn’t know too much because I haven’t experienced prison but what is for certain is that things will be different, both psychologically and physically, for you. What you find when you’re finally out, the friends, family members, chill spots… they might not be exactly as you remember them. But all this is besides the point. The point here is that you, too, may not be the same again.
Meet Jowie Irungu. The man was arrested alongside Maribe two years ago and were both facing murder charges. As fate would have it, Maribe was released on bond but Irungu was not. When the case was finally heard and determined in February 2020, Irungu was staring down a barrel reading 2 million in bail. He was hopeless. Nevertheless, friends and family merged forces and rallied the public to aide their son and brother and after a well-fought battle, they raised the money. Irungu walked! He has since spent much needed quality time with those whose company he had sorely missed. However, there is a new twist to his tale; Jowie is now a gospel musical artist, teasing his very first release, Nishikilie, set for mere hours from today.
The teaser shows Jowie trudging in a dryland, seemingly worn out from a long and grueling journey. It is widely speculated that the song will be a reflection on his past, making key reference to his time behind bars. Fans are egging him on to chase his dreams and never relent. The song is anticipated as a gospel piece and the eagerness surrounding it is groundbreaking. It will be interesting to hear what the man has to say.
His social media clearly says it all. He is a new man!
