Boomplay Awards Showcase: Evelyn Wanjiru

Gospel artiste Evelyn Wanjiru is the latest recipient of a plaque from Africa's leading music streaming platform, Boomplay.

Evelyn was awarded for surpassing the 1 million streams mark for her album 'Mungu Mkuu'.

Receiving her Plaque at the Gig Dynamics headquarters in Nairobi, the 'Waweza' singer thanked her fans and Boomplay for making the over 1 million streams possible.

Evelyn has over 3.4 million streams on the app making her one of the most streamed Kenyan female gospel acts on Boomplay.

She urged other musicians to take advantage of platforms like Boomplay to promote their work and reach more people while at it.

"Boomplay has contributed big time to my career. I joined them a few years ago and my music journey has not been the same. I have witnessed a lot of growth, a lot of streams and this is a milestone for me." she said.

"They have given me a great platform across the globe and especially in Africa and this motivates me a lot. The way they have supported artistes is just beautiful and with that, I am so humbled and honored to work with them" she added.

Evelyn also opened up on what she has been up to during this pandemic season.

"A new album is coming with about 12 to 15 songs. I am really excited about this. It is a challenge I took during this Covid period and I can't wait for you to listen to the project. I will also have tours and concerts and I look forward to blessing you with what God has deposited in my heart".

"Challenges are there to make us stronger and not break us. We have lost loved ones during pandemic but out of that, many of us have learned to trust the Lord. Covid hasn't put me down. I am looking beyond the situation" she said.

The singer thanked Boomplay for standing with artistes and for always supporting them when they need help the most.

"Thank You Boomplay for believing in the music industry, both secular and gospel. You have taken musicians will all your hearts and bought into their missions and visions. You have shaped them and given them an opportunity to be heard".

"You have supported artistes financially, sponsoring their work and just boosting their music. This has really motivated many artistes".

She called on her fans to get the Boomplay App and thanked them for their endless support.

"Thank You my fans for streaming my music and believing in me. Keep praying for me and if you have not got the app, download it on Play store or App store and you can never lack something beautiful to listen to. God Bless You and I can't wait to become a blessing again. Watch out for my new album that is coming soon" she concluded.
